Species: Half Human, Half Demon
Age: 28-29 by the time DMC1 & Anime (and my main fic) take place (around the same age as the Sparda Twins)
Appearance (Human): Catria is short in stature with a slender/toned build. She has long crimson hair that she almost always wears down in long waves with her bangs draping over one side of her face. Her golden yellow eyes are sultry and catlike, with long thick lashes. Her face is soft and feminine, with a round nose, visible cheek bones, and a very soft cleft on her chin. Despite growing up near the ocean, Catria is rather pale, but sports some freckles along her cheeks, nose, shoulders and arms. Her ears are lined with piercings, and she always wears her nails long(ish) and pointed. She is often told throughout her life that she is the spitting image of her mother, with her eyes being the only resemblance she bares to her father.
Background: (Life before my main Fic. Some of this is stuff that's possibly going into a prequel Fic? Idk.) : Catria is the only child of Modeus (Sparda's former squire) and his late wife Danica. Catria's birth leaves her father a widow, and as a result, she has a slightly difficult upbringing. Overcome with melancholy and an over obsession to protect Catria from their family's true nature; Modeus becomes an overly strict, yet emotionally unavailable father. Often burying himself in work, and leaving Catria alone much of the time. Catria grows up knowing very little about her mother, as Modeus finds it too depressing to speak of her.
Growing up in an oceanside town, Catria is obsessed with pirates and urban legends. During her childhood, she would often seek solace by the seaside, and would bury herself in books about pirates and ghost ships. Her lifelong obsession with the supernatural lands her a job working in a Special Investigations unit as a crime scene investigator in adulthood.
Of course, her reasons for joining Special Investigations were never limited to just her obessesion with the occult. Catria has a connection to one of the sons of Sparda. When she was twelve, her father brought a strange boy named Tony home, claiming that he was the child of a long lost friend and that it was his "duty" to watch over him.
Catria and Tony instantly formed a bond, and over the years became closer and closer. As they got older, Modeus began to leave for what he told them were "extended research trips." He believed they were old enough to look after themselves and continued his search for Sparda, under the guise of research for work. What Modeus did not realize was that not only had the two fallen for each other, but that they had begun research of their own behind his back. Tony wanted to find the demon responsible for his mother's death, and Catria was determined to help him.
Feeling as though he is lying to her, Tony eventually reveals his true identity, and feelings, to Catria. However, their romance is cut short when they are both attacked by demons months later. Catria suffers a stab wound, and while it ends up being non leathal, Dante decides that he cannot endanger her life by being around her any longer. Before leaving town, he tells Catria that they will never see one another again, because he truly believes it to be the only way to keep her safe. He urges her to live a normal life, and to forget about him.
After Dante leaves town, Catria leaves herself for a short while to attend school where she eventually meets her best friend and future (work) partner, Aldon. After college, Catria convinces Aldon to move to Port Prince and join Special Investigations with her.
Years go by, and Catria settles into a semi normal life in Port Prince, keeping it free of demons and other creatures through her job with SI. However, her life is turned upside down when the demon who stabbed her a decade ago shows back up to tell her that Dante has slain her father. Determined to finally find the truth, Catria begins to unravel the secrets of her family, and herself.
Traits: Catria is a headstrong and stubborn free spirit. In her younger years, she was a very willful child, and often did things against her father’s wishes. While she may not seem like it at first, Catria is a dreamer and a bit of a hopeless romantic. She’s often lost in thought and can be spacey when she’s not keeping busy. She is incredibly smart, and she tends to think quick on her feet. Those closest to her find her to be funny and full of life, and a fiercely loyal friend. Those not close to her find her to be aloof, and are often put off by her cockiness and occasional mean spirited humor. Catria can be overdramatic at times, and tends to use humor as a shield when she doesn’t feel like taking things seriously. Taking after her father, she buries herself in her work to avoid facing her problems and emotions.
Catria loves classic rock, metal, and cheesy 80's music. Her prized possession is an old record player that she found at an antique store and she loves to collect records. Though her father is well off, she doesn't take money from him and still drives an old stick shift that she's had since high school. She’s easily won over by offers of boardwalk fries or coffee, and will do pretty much anything for a good lemon bar. She carries her obsession with pirates and old urban legends into her adulthood and can often be found just sitting around the docks listening to the ocean.
Despite being rough around the edges, Catria is a great pianist and has a surprisingly lovely voice when she chooses to let people hear it. She’ll often sing in the shower, or quietly to herself when she sits by the ocean.
Weapons: Catria owns a standard pistol given to her by the Port Prince PD for work. After her father’s death, she acquires his sword and begins to hunt demons. After eventually learning of her mother’s heritage as a holy knight, Catria comes to posses a holy shield and a sacred bow that belonged to her mother. After finding the shield and realizing she needs a one handed weapon, Catria gets an intricate golden cutlass custom made for herself.
Catria also comes across an enchanted item "Bearskin" otherwise known as The Devil's Green Coat. She finds that when she puts it on, it fits her exactly and takes the style and color that she desires. There are two front pockets that she can pull an endless item of her choosing from. (Hint: it's intricate throwing knives.)
Demonic Abilities: Like most other half demons, Catria has super human strength and speed. Her wounds regenerate quickly, and she is an incredibly skilled swordswoman. Unlike Dante, she embraces more of her demonic heritage and learns to use and manipulate demonic energy to her advantage. (Imbuing normal objects with demonic power, using demonic energy to appear younger as she gets older.) She has similar abilities to her father, and is able to manipulate the ground around her to create throwing knives, daggers, spikes, etc. Unique to Catria, she finds that even in her human form, her nails are made of an unbreakable metal and can no longer be cut shorter. (Once her powers awaken.)
Other Abilities: Most abilities that paladins have are learned through magic, not passed through blood. Catria learns some abilities unique to paladins through the use of human magic, including the ability to smite, heal, and small amounts of thaumaturgy. (Miracle working.)
Demonic Apperance: Catria's demon form is similar to her father's. Her ears and teeth become pointed, and her nails grow longer and sharper. Her eyes become two glowing pits of golden fire. Her skin becomes an unpierceable silver metal, and her clothes form a suit of armor. She is still recognizable in her demon form by her long crimson hair.
